Before Intravenous/ General Anesthesia

  • You may not have any food for 6- 8 hours, and drink clear liquids at least 2 hours before surgery.

  • No smoking/ vaping at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, you should stop smoking for 4 -6 weeks before surgery.

  • If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Olena Norris prior to your surgical date for instructions.

  • If we request a medical clearance and have confirmed it with your medical doctor regarding specific medications, then the instruction will be given to you before surgery.

  • If you are currently on medications, please take it with a small sip of water at their scheduled time.

  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.

  • The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia.

  • Please remove jewelry, especially those you have in your nose, lips, and tongue at the time of surgery.

  • Please do not wear excessive makeup on the day of surgery.

  • No cell phones allowed during surgery.

  • If you need to re-schedule or cancel your appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
