Meet the Doctor – Olena Norris, D.D.S.
Dr. Olena Norris is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Norris has an extensive and comprehensive list of trainings and accomplishments. After graduating in Biochemistry from California State University Fullerton with Magnum Cum Laude academic honor, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the UCLA School of Dentistry. Then Dr. Norris completed Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at UCLA School of Dentistry, followed by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at prestigious Harvard University and affiliated with it Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Norris continued her specialty education in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Boston University/ Boston Medical Center. During residency she has got extensive training in dental implant surgery, trauma, facial reconstruction, orthognatics, cosmetic, sleep apnea, cleft/craniofacial and cancer surgeries, as well as training in all aspects of anesthesia administration. The training also included one year of general surgery. During these years she combined her specialty education with intensive hospital practice and research work. She has authored a number of publications regarding her clinical interests, which included bone grafting for supporting dental implants, treatment of facial traumas and gunshot injuries, TMJ surgery as well as oral tumor surgery.
Due to her broad expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Norris has privileges and regularly performs oral and maxillofacial surgeries in five main hospitals of Bakersfield: Mercy Hospital Downtown and Mercy Hospital Southwest, Memorial Hospitals, Kern Medical Hospital, and San Joaquin Community Hospital.
Dr. Norris is a member of American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Kern County Dental Society, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Society of Dental Anesthesiologists.
Whether she is working at her private practice or is treating patients at hospitals of Bakersfield, Dr. Norris’ main passion in life is helping people. She has made multiple trips to Mexico and Ukraine for humanitarian reason for particular interest in performing surgeries for untreated cleft lips and pallet in children.
Dr. Norris resides in Bakersfield with her family. She enjoys various sports, including athletics, yoga, sailing and biking; as well as arts – opera music and theatre.
